Visiting My Old Middle School

This afternoon, I was invited to visit my old middle school and hang out with a group of very creative and talented kids.

We tested out a new writing workshop I created that focuses on context and collaboration. The students worked together to write some really interesting stories, including but not limited to: a tragic romance set on a bench made of tortilla chips situated next lake full of nacho cheese, the action packed tale of a baby wolf being pursued by robots through a futuristic Chicago on Halloween night, and several bone chilling ghost stories… which we then made into comics! I thought it was a lot of fun and I hope the kids would agree.

Scholastic Book Fairs

I have very fond memories of going to Scholastic Book Fairs when I was a student. What could be better than seeing your school library transformed into a kids-only bookstore?! I grew up in a small town (and before ordering books off of the internet was as easy as it is now), so it always felt like a treat to be able to discover new books and make purchasing decisions for myself. I never imagined that when I was older I’d see my own work on those familiar shelves and in the Scholastic catalog.

I was so excited to see these pictures from the Book Fair at my cousin’s school and when my partner’s mom texted me that my book was in Arrow… right next to a Goosebumps book, no less! It’s a huge honor to see CLICK in such good company and hopefully becoming part of a new generation of readers’ fond memories.

CAMP - it's almost here!

I got some advanced copies of CAMP in the mail today! I practically tackled the delivery guy when I saw the HMH logo on the packages he was carrying.

This is my first time seeing the finished book in person and it’s really exciting. Having a physical copy of the book feels so different from looking at the files on my computer screen. I can’t wait until next month when I can share Olive and Willow’s adventure with everyone!

Upcoming Event: Ridgewood Public Library-Con

Join me at the Ridgewood Public Library on March 9th for a day full of comics, crafts, reading, and a ton of fun activities! I'll be at a table in the auditorium area with a fresh stack of CLICK books just waiting to be signed— and some other comics and goodies, too!

Barnes & Noble Kids' Book Hangout

I had an amazing time signing books and chilling at the B&N Kids’ Book Hangout in Clifton, NJ! Everyone had such thoughtful and interesting questions about CLICK and the activities Barnes & Noble had planned were super fun!

I was also very happy to see some advanced copies of CAMP in the hands of eager readers!
